DIYI TANG

Hailed as “Vibrantly musical, thoughtful” by Cleveland Plain Dealer, “A mature interpreter and an artist of intelligence” by Singapore Straits Times. Dr. Diyi Tang has enjoyed a multifaceted career as a concert pianist, concertizer, educator, and organizer.

Dr. Tang has made appearances with the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, Moscow Symphony, Shanghai Symphony and Orchestra National de Lyon. As a result of winning the Mannes School Concerto Competition, Dr. Tang made his debut at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center with Mannes Orchestra performing Chopin E minor Piano Concerto. Equally active as a soloist, Dr. Tang has given solo recitals at Tivoli Gardens (Denmark), Central Conservatory in Beijing, Shanghai Grand theatre. Victoria Concert Hall (Singapore). In March 2012, Dr. Tang gave a sold-out recital in Carnegie Hall Weill Recital Hall in New York.

Dr. Tang was award winner in several prestigious competitions, including Chopin International Piano Competition in Moscow, Hongkong International Piano Competition, and Hilton Head International Piano Competition in South Carolina. He has worked with a multitude of renowned pianists, such as Anderas Schiff, Richard Goode, and Yefim Bronfman.

Other than performing, Dr. Tang is also an enthusiastic piano educator. For last two decades, he has taught students from twenty different countries. And his students have been the recipients of major award at national and international level. Frequently invited to judge the piano competitions in the tri-state area, Dr. Tang has served as the principal judge at the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), “Rising stars” music program that organized by the Sinovision, an influential Chinese TV station in North America, the IMPACT young artists competition, the Heida Hermans International Piano Competitions and many others. He has also appeared on several classical radio programs, including “Voice of America”, “The McGraw- Companies Artists Showcase in WQXR” hosted by Robert Sherman.

Dr. Tang is the Founder and Music Director of Tang Institute for Musical Excellence (TIME), a non-profit endeavors to help young musicians who seek to further their musical education and career in the U.S.
