Lyra Music Festival
Communication, Expression, Connection: Bringing Classical Music to Life Everywhere
The Lyra Music Festival is an outstanding series of summer classical music events based in New York’s Hudson Valley. Each July, Lyra Music brings together world-class musicians, outstanding young string players and pianists, and an exceptional faculty of professional musicians and educators for concerts, masterclasses, and student performances.
Guest Artist Concerts
Internationally recognized musicians join Lyra Music on the concert stage each summer. Guest Artists have included Simone Dinnerstein, Frederic Chiu, Astrid Schween, Ayano Ninomiya, The Horszowski Trio, Matthew Zalkind, Itamar Zorman, Sibbi Bernhardsson, Michael Brown, Spencer Myer, Alexi Kenney, Dane Johansen, and Melissa White. These world-class musicians perform in festivals and with ensembles including the Marlboro Music Festival, Ravinia Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Escher Quartet, Pacifica Quartet, Harlem Quartet, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Cleveland Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic.
Masterclasses
Lyra Festival audiences can go behind-the-scenes, attending Masterclasses to hear participants with the Lyra Music Festival Young Artist Performance Program (YAPP) perform and to watch as these outstanding young musicians receive one-on-one coaching with Lyra Music Guest Artists-in-Residence. Audiences are invited to learn more about the musical process and Lyra’s guest musicians as they share their personal insights and inspiration with Lyra Music YAPP students and the public.
Student Concerts
The Lyra Festival brings music to the community! Lyra Music’s exceptional students perform free outreach concerts, sharing live classical music with audiences and organizations in the surrounding community. Lyra Students perform at nursing homes, senior centers and even enjoy a collaboration with the Eric Carle Museum and Stamell Stringed Instruments performing for the youngest audiences.
